Willow's Breast Cancer Support Network Program is dedicated to helping survivors who start community-based breast cancer support groups.
Breast cancer support groups offer vital emotional support and coping information to women across Canada. Starting and sustaining these groups is one of the amazing contributions women with breast cancer make to one another, and to their communities.
The Network provides Facilitator Training Workshops for:
- survivors planning to start a breast cancer support group
- survivors already facilitating a breast cancer support group
The Workshops give participants the opportunity to
- learn what support groups are and are not
- develop relevant communication skills
- strategize around common challenges
- build self confidence
- gain much-needed renewal for veteran facilitators
Between Workshops Network staff members are available to group facilitators as a confidential sounding board, to brainstorm group and facilitator challenges.
Being connected to support groups across Canada lets the Network share the experience of how others coped in similar circumstances.
