Willow's Podcast Series

A new podcast series gives an intimate look at the lives of those affected by breast cancer in their own words and voices.

Each podcast provides a unique perspective on what it means to be touched by the disease. The series will include a wide range of perspectives including survivors, Willow support volunteers and staff, doctors, and family members of those living with breast cancer.

Our newest podcast features Dr. Karen Gelmon, medical oncologist at BC Cancer Agency and professor of medicine at University of British Columbia. Dr. Gelmon also serves as chair of the Provincial Breast Tumour Group, is the clinical leader of Advanced Therapeutics Department and is involved in numerous breast cancer committees, advisory boards and medical journals.

Dr. Gelmon's podcast is taken from the patient forum, Estrogen Matters, which took place in Vancouver on April 17th, 2007, sponsored by Pfizer Oncology. Dr. Gelmon discusses hormones and breast cancer, providing information and her interpretation of what's known today. Specific topics include different types of breast cancer, young women diagnosed with breast cancer and treatments for post-menopausal women and their possible side effects.
