EAT TO THE BEAT
RAISES OVER $270,000 FOR WILLOW BREAST CANCER SUPPORT CANADA
Toronto, ON (October 4, 2007) - Over 950 guests descended on Roy Thomson
Hall the evening of September 25th for Eat to the Beat raising over $270,000
for Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada. The money raised helps Canadians impacted
by breast cancer through two of Willow's national programs and services, the
Peer Support Program, Support Network Program and Information Service.
The Peer Support program trains breast cancer survivors to take distress calls from anyone impacted by the disease and the Support Network Program travels across Canada, teaching breast cancer survivors the skills and tools to start, sustain and run face-to-face breast cancer support groups through workshops. Willow's Information Service enriches both support programs, but also provides customized information kits for each person who contacts Willow looking for answers or resources on their particular diagnoses. Willow's annual fundraising event, Eat to the Beat, raises the necessary funds to keep these essential programs and services accessible to all Canadians.
"Guests come to Eat to the Beat for a one-of-a-kind culinary event experience, but many don't realize the importance of where their money is truly going; support to all Canadians diagnosed with breast cancer and their families through Willow's vital and unique services" said Elaine Brown, Executive Director of Willow.
Eat to the Beat is the only event of its kind. Attendees stroll through an assorted array of sweet and savoury food stations, tasting delectable treats created by over 60 fabulous female chefs while sipping on wines and spirits from over 15 local wineries and breweries. Eat to the Beat also features live music, a riveting raffle, a seductive designer bag silent auction and food inspired corsets celebrating women, food and life. With 90% of event proceeds going directly to the Willow's programs and services, Eat to the Beat is not only an exciting event, it is for a commendable cause.
