The Breast Darn Show Period raises $37,000 for
Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada

Toronto, ON, June 22, 2007 - Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada would like to thank the entire Breast Darn Show Period organizing committee, who earlier this week presented Willow with a cheque for $37,000. The donation, which surpassed the previous fundraising record by $7,000, will directly help the thousands of Canadians receive the support and information services they need while coping with breast cancer within their families.

"We wanted to support an organization whose mandate is to help people dealing with this terrible disease today," says Melanie Segal, co-creator of the event. "In Willow we found this all important resource that assists Canadians coping with breast cancer by providing emotional support and information specific to each person's needs. We know first-hand how valuable this type of service is to the thousands affected, so wanted to do our part to give back."

"It's been an absolute pleasure working with this dynamic and passionate team on this unique project," says S. Elaine Brown, Executive Director, Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada. "It was a spectacular event kicking off with the pink carpet and concluding with the incredibly moving silks acrobatic performance by Shayna Segal. All who attended were truly touched in numerous ways throughout the entire evening."

The Breast Darn Show Period took place on May 17, 2007 at the Fermenting Cellar in the Historic Distillery District. The event featured live performances by Kim Stockwood, Tara McLean, and Damhnait Doyle from the Juno nominated band Shaye and Camilla Scott from the Tony award winning musical Mamma Mia.
