Re: losing hair

Hi Stella I had chemo treatment (study drug, Docataxel & Herceptin) surgery and more chemo FEC with Herceptin and I didn't lose all my hair. It thinned out pretty good so I cut it short. My hair was thinner anyway. I usually wear my head scarf or my wig though because it is really short. The hair that started to grow back in between chemo & surgery has come in more grey. Now that I had my last FEC I'm sure a little more will come out but it will always grow back. My eyelashes & eyebrows never fell out, which was good. Good Luck:)

Re: losing hair

Hi Stella, I just had my 5th round of chemo (one more to go and I'm done!). I am having 3 rounds of FEC and 3 rounds of Taxotere (Doceataxel). After my first round of FEC, exactly two weeks later my hair started to fall out in clumps and the next day my sister shaved my head (so did she for support). I really didn't see a difference in my eyebrows or eyelashes until I started the taxotere. Now I notice some thinning in my eyebrows and eyelashes but, I can still wear mascara (which is how I know I am doing ok;). Weirdest thing is since starting the Taxotere, my head hair has started to grow back, slowly but, growing. I wear mostly little hats and toques to run errands and go to apts. I do wear my wig now and then but, I feel weird with it. I was surprised by how I was not as traumatized by the hair loss as I thought. Good luck, remember it will grow back.

Re: losing hair

Hi Stella...I underwent chemo twice during two separate cancer diagnosis (1999 and again in 2007). The chemo cocktail was different for each diagnosis. During the first episode- I was on CMF-and my head hair thinned considerably- forcing me to get a buzz cut. But during the second episode I had ACT and my hair fell out totally on day 12 after treatment. My head hair, eyelashes, brows, and pubic hair all fell out and for many months I was a smooth hairless person. Did not have any leg hair to shave either. The "A" of the coctail is a very harsh drug (cannot spell it - it sounds like " a-drea-micon") and I was told this is what made me so sick too. But...shortly after I was given the "T" - Taxol in the last three months of treatment- my hair slowly began to reappear. Somedays I felt so ugly due to all of the changes- but on days when my hair began to show up- I began to feel pretty cool...hope you are keeping well....Cat

Re: losing hair

Hi Stella: I had my third FEC and herceptin and more hair came out, bald patches but not completely bald. I wouldn't go out like this but I wear a scarf or my wig. It should slowly grow back. Not too worried :)
